About Me

Hello, I’m Tim, A software engineer and general computing and data wonk, living in Hackney, in London.

My main interests, computing-wise, are in full-stack web development, functional programming, and machine-learning / data analytics on big datasets.

Other things I like include music, mathematics, politics, photography, cycling, beer (drinking it, and home-brewing it), and assorted cultural and arty stuff. If you’re interested in beer and brewing, I also write about such things at Ales of the Unexpected occasionally.

If you want to get in touch with me, email tim at this domain - I’m also on twittergithubflickrlast.fm and LinkedIn - I also have a facebook page, but I only add people I know in real life there, sorry.

Need someone like me to work for you?

I’m available for hire for freelance / contract work either developing software (mostly for the web), or crunching through large amounts of data to find useful and interesting insights.

For those who care about such things - I’ve plenty of experience working in Java, Python, Scala, Haskell, Erlang, and Javascript. Other technologies I know that you might find useful include Rails, Apache Hadoop, SQL (My- and Postgre-), and Linux systems administration. I like (and practice) test-driven and behaviour-driven development, and SOLID object-oriented and domain-driven design.

If it sounds like I could be of use to you, please get in touch!  My email address is “tim” at this domain.
